Nice cover, good cushion, a bit heavy
Since it is claimed that the newer model year 690's saddles are better than before and I haven't done any long days on the bike yet, I wasn't convinced I needed an aftermarket one. I had a Seat Concepts on my XR650R and that bike definitely needed it. I'll find out once I head to Baja in a few weeks and actually put on some long days. In the meantime, I know that the cover is MUCH better than the slippery stock saddle. It grips a lot on top, while the sides are slick so you can still move around easily while standing without the saddle gripping your thighs. I know that the stock seat pan is prone to crack and is hard to work with which is why Seat Concepts made their own, but the downside is that this replacement saddle is quite heavier than the stock which is one more upgrade that makes this bike heavier.
Thank you KTM Twins - Seat Concepts and bash plate
Thank you for your quick delivery on two products that are well made and clearly meant to improve rider comfort and protection. KTM Twins is so easy to deal with.
Better than stock?
Not too sure how I feel about this seat.... I want to like it because it costed me $300 but it is definitely not softer to the touch or more cushioned than stock.... It sits stiffer and higher than stock which basically canceled out my 1" lowering link I had installed. I do not think it is worth $300 either. I think all you're really paying for is a "look" upgrade. I'll give it some more riding time but Im already highly contemplating going back to stock and selling this on eBay if KTM Twins won't take it back.
Wider but harder
I have this seat in regular height. It is wider than the standard seat but the padding is actually MORE FIRM than the factory seat. After a hundred miles or so I find myself moving back and forth trying to relieve the pressure points. What I would really like for seat concepts to offer is a gel padding option.
