Ordering was easy. Delivery on-time. Most impressive was the finish of the rack. All the edges are significantly chamfered and the whole thing powder coated. Really a nice piece of kit. Makes me want to be careful with bungies having metal ends so I don't scratch it. Mine didn't come with instructions although it was simple to figure out. Unless . . . your bike doesn't have the holes in the bodywork to allow mounting. Some (all?) SMC Rs do not have the grab handles installed and so there are no holes in the plastic. The underside of the bodywork has marks that you think would be the location of the holes but are off by a few mm. Caution is needed in drilling holes for the rack mointing. Otherwise a nice piece of kit.
Excellent service
Rack bolts right on to my 2017 690 Enduro R while leaving space to access the rear gas cap. Understand that the rear grab handles come off and this bolts right into those holes so don’t expect to keep those on the bike unless you get some really long bolts. The other thing to consider is that this bolts directly into the plastic gas tank so I would not recommend loading this up with a ton of weight. I put a 1 gal Rotopax on it and a small bag. If you overload it, you may risk ripping out the helicoils in the tank. Not trying scare anyone, just don’t expect to pack 50 lbs. of junk on the back.
This is a BEEFY, and Very well designed item that directly bolts on, no modifications needed, I have the Stainless Steel Touratech Pannier mounts on the sides of my 690 and this rack was even made to work with that rack system, I purchased another tail rack first, very thin material 4mm aluminum, with the Rotopax tool box mounted on it, every time I’d gas up my 690 Enduro I’d have to remove the tool box to get gas into the tank opening, eventually the thin plate cracked almost completely across, another Poorly designed or made item from ( Nomad-ADV) . this Perun Moto tail plate is a little on the expensive side, but looks to be very well made and designed, and that’s always the way I lean. I can fill the gas with out removing the Rotopax set up every time, and that’s multiple times per user session.I’ve used their ( Perun) other products and they are set it and forget it reliable, that’s what I’m looking for, especially far from home.
